this week was slightly more eventful but not in a good way.
i woke up on wednesday morning to find a note from my parents saying they'd taken PJ to minor injuries and i thought 'oh what's he done now?'
turns out he'd woken up at 2am with an incredibly painful headache and when paracetamol didnt make a difference mum and dad took him to the out-of-hours doctor.
from there he was sent to A&E and then up to a ward. they couldnt rule out a bleed or anything so decided to admit him. then they didnt want to do a brain scan coz the rest of his neurological tests were fine although his blood pressure was a little high.
so they kept him in overnight, observed him more, decided not to scan and eventually sent us home with medicine.
it was a very very long 36 hours and at about 2pm today it all hit me and i broke down crying. i was really really worried about him and still am worried since the headache hasnt gone away. plus i was tired and stressed and trying to make a decision in my head about tomorrow.
tomorrow i'm supposed to be going away for a long weekend to a youth leaders retreat and i was supposed to be leaving first thing in the morning.
we've worked out a way for me to be able to travel down in the evening instead so i dont have to make a decision about whether to go or not until after i've had a long night's sleep and seen how PJ is doing.
something like this shows you how incredibly supportive some friends are and how much praying helps. i've never prayed so much in my life, it could have been something very serious but it isn't, its probably just a very severe migraine, we just have to wait and see if it goes away.
anyway, thankyou to all the people who have been praying :) its much appreciated.

wasting time
its wednesday and today i have my interview at brookes, i've already been and had the introduction and done the written exercise. unfortunately my one on one interview isnt until 3.40 so my mum's picked me up and i'm hanging out at her office for a couple of hours.
one of her collegues was just leaving the office as i arrived so nicely gave up her computer to me :)
however...you may want to sit down for this news...i can't get on facebook!!!! :(
its weird having to go do interviews and try and convince people that they want me. i thought i did really bad in the written exercise but then i was talking to the other candidates afterwards and one of them said 'i didnt understand what perspectives meant' so i think i did ok!
hopefully the actually individual interview will go ok. its a panel interview which could be really scary :s but i've run through all the worst scenarios in my head so it can only be better than that!
meh i've still got at least an hour to kill.
and i'm so tired, had to get up earlier than normal this morning in order to get to brookes for 8.45am. plus its just exhausting going for days like this. don't ask me why.
thats all for now i think, gonna go send some more emails to people in order to waste some time.

university update
since i dont have an awful lot else to write about i thought i would give you a university update.
in november i applied to 5 universites, here's how its going:
bournemouth- rejected me about 10 days after applying.
northampton- have given me an interview on 27th february.
oxford brookes- have given me an interview which is this wednesday
southampton solent- also given me an interview on 19th february, i also had to fill in a supplementary questionnaire for them which took a while, tough questions.
UWE (university of west of england)- send me a biographical questionnaire to fill in, to be returned within a week of receipt, took me ages to do but have sent that back. after which they'll either say no, give me an interview or say yes.
so basically 4 out of 5 came back and said 'maybe' and i now have to do interviews and wait and see, hopefully by the end of february i'll have a definite place somewhere and can start sorting out loans, bursary and accomodation.
other than that my week has been busy but nothing out of the ordinary. got the church in abingdon unity service tonight which should be ok and then cells. tomorrow is normal staff meeting and other work stuff. i've discovered that since i now have youth alpha that wednesday is my busiest day (speaking of youth alpha we got about 35 people which is AMAZING!!!) so i need to make sure tuesday and thursday aren't so busy now.
hope thats a good update for now, will try and write more next week.

work, weather and the weekend
so i've been back at work this week. its been pretty ok so far :)
had usual staff meetings and peer leaders, felt like a slightly weird week due to no lunchclubs or genesis cell groups.
but its been good- tomorrow i need to finish planning for Godzkidz (i'm doing Xtreme this week which is 7-9's i think) and also plan the fitzharrys christian union stuff for this term. please be praying for this CU, we have no idea how its going to be received or how many will come but i've got some good helpers and lots of faith so we'll see.
today was my day off which was good, went shopping with my nan, watched tv and went to the gym. am completely shattered so hoping to get a good night's sleep tonight.
i feel like this term is going to fly by. usually if i have markers throughout the term then it goes quickly because i'm always looking forward to the next thing e.g. firstly i'm looking forward to the soulnet retreat, then after that comes the puppet workshop, then avenue Q, then Godzone sleepover, then good friday holiday club, then space sleepover, then finally spring harvest.
plus i've got university stuff in there. i've got an interview at oxford brookes at the end of january and one at northampton at the end of february. i'm still waiting to hear from southampton solent and my beloved UWE. but God's got it under control and i trust him...its just pathetic that i'm now getting excited about the post arriving!
i really really really want it to snow, apparently it should snow during january and february. but the weather keeps teasing me. like the forecasts say snow but it doesnt snow or we get sleet but no snow or i hear other people i know around the uk got snow and i didnt :( i just think there's something so beautiful and pure and fun about snow and i get really excited about it so hopefully we'll get some soon.
its just typical of england, we have really cold and crisp weather but no clouds to give snow and now its milder and the clouds arrive but instead its just horrible rain!
anyway i need to head to bed and get some sleep.
will try and write again soon, its just that to write in my blog something interesting needs to happen and not alot is going on in abingdon or in my life hehe. which is probably a good thing!
i'm sure there'll be something to rant about soon though don't worry :)

almost done
my room is almost completely decorated.
beth, mum and i (with a bit of help from anna) painted the walls yesterday, a mammoth task but went pretty well.
today my amazing nan came round to help mum and me do the gloss work.
tomorrow or saturday hopefully nicola is coming to paint another mural for me.
but for now my room is looking good and i'm sleeping in the study!
went out for a meal last night with anna, beth, kate and lucy. we went to frankie and benny's (my favourite restaurant ever!) and then saw st trinians which was pretty good actually. the funniest parts are some of the subtle references to other films that colin firth has done.
today i am praying for some snow (i LOVE snow!) and also looking forward to a quiet evening in. tomorrow night i'm staying at beth's and sunday i'm back at work so i think tonight and saturday night are the only times i have left to relax.
part of me is almost ready to get back into the swing of gap year stuff, part of me knows that last term i'd almost burnt out by the end and i cant let that happen this term.
however its now 2008.
my new years eve was good. annual murder mystery went very well. i didnt win anything. kat was the murderer (i had a sneaky suspicion it was her but my loyalties meant i didnt vote for her- that would have been mean)
everyone played their parts well. gary gallant was particularly good- played by youngest nash boy who was supposed to be my secret boyfriend so spent the night going round asking other people for money so that i could pay by debts to the sheriff and my family would be safe. you had to be there but it was very cute.
at midnight we clinked glasses and then the children/teenagers did our traditional run up and down the road. joined by beth of course. we then stood in the road and watched other people's fireworks while doing our own sparklers.
it being 2008 now, some things seem alot closer. for instance:
this year i'm going to a soulnet leaders retreat at center parks.
this year i'm going to spring harvest.
this year i'm going back to new wine.
and finally....
this year i'm going to university.
there's something about it being this year instead of 'next year' that is weird. i can't wait though. i'm getting excited about it :D
pray that i get letters through from universities soon and that i can get back into gap year stuff without burning out.
